UPC reveals Polish digital spend

PIKE, ZAKOPANE. UPC Polska plans to invest PLN100-200 million (€28.1-48.2 million) on digitalisation over the next few years, according to its president, Simon Boyd.

He added that the MSO is “very pleased” with its digital rollout to date, with 50% of digital TV subscribers having also decided to opt for PVRs and HD channels.

Boyd was of the view that the Polish cable industry as a whole will spend hundreds of millions of zlotys on digitalisation over the next few years.

It will also continue to see consolidation and, certainly in the case of UPC, face strong competition from the incumbent TPSA, especially in large cities.
