News Corp appoints new Premiere execs
News Corp has further increased its influence on Premiere (HQ, left) by appointing three new key executives at the German pay-TV broadcaster, all of whom are News Corp confidantes and all from Sky Italia.
Giovanni Brunelli has been appointed Senior Vice President, Customer Operations. He joins Premiere from News Corp’s Italian pay-TV platform Sky Italia, where he has been since 2003, overseeing several projects throughout the company’s development, particularly in sales, operations, customer service and management reporting.
Marcello Maggioni joins Premiere as Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing. He spent four years also at Sky Italia, initially as Head of Customer Acquisition Marketing and then as Marketing Director.
Gaetano Pannito has been appointed Vice President Sales. He spent five years with Sky Italia, firstly as Head of Sales Operations, then as Head of Customer Marketing.
With the move, Premiere’s new CEO Mark Williams assembles a team of staff he is familiar with at the Munich-based broadcaster. Williams knows the executives from the days when he was a director of Sky Italia’s board before taking on the top position at Premiere.
“Our immediate focus is to improve both customer satisfaction and our rate of new customer acquisition. These appointments take advantage of the specific expertise and experience of these executives to achieve those objectives,” said Williams.
Carsten Schmidt, Chief Sports & New Business Officer at Premiere, will assume additional responsibility for media sales and manage the company’s relationship with its outsourced media sales agency Premium Media Solutions.
