SIMO closes down

SIMO, Spain's main computing, multimedia and telecommunications show won't be opening its doors next November as it's been doing every year for the past forty years. The cause is the absence of main companies from this field such as Microsoft, Telefónica, Toshiba and France Télécom's Orange.

The show usually takes place at Madrid's IFEMA halls and has attracted visitors from all over Europe, but over the last few years has lost importance.

Nevertheless IFEMA's Organization is searching for a new model of show to include the Intormation Technologies. Apparently this new show will be celebrated from next year.

Among other factors of this decision are the cost for the companies having a stand at the show and also the fewer number of visitors over the last few
years. However big computing multinational Hewlett Packard said it would carry on supporting the show.
