Microsoft release emergency patch
Some Microsoft users may have been surprised to see another update so soon after the regular monthly update, but this patch was a critical update and therefore means that Microsoft were taking no chances.
For any Microsoft user who is not sure if they have received the patch, this one had the number KB958644.
If this patch is missing, then a visit to the Windows Update site is in order where it can be easily downloaded.
The reason for emergency patch is due to one word, “Wormable”. The Microsoft technical staff have picked it up and although there have not been any major attacks the patch was issued to ensure the safety of their customers.
To underline the seriousness of this event, Microsoft would not have issued this update if they thought that there was not a serious vulnerability there.
