Murdoch won't go for Digital+

With neither Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation nor its partially-owned BSkyB bid ding for Sogecable's digital pay TV operator Digital+, the door is open for Telefónica, perhaps in partnership with French media group Vivendi.

Both big companies were Sogecable's partners previously.

Also still in the running are thought to be Mediaset's Spanish private channel Telecinco and cable operator Ono.

Some market rumours say that if the sale price is not as high as Sogecable wants it to be the banks could end up capitalizing Sogecable's debt.

November 12 is the last day for presenting thte different bids for the buyout of the operator. BSkyB was on the initial list for this operation but now it has withdrawn becasue the company wants to centred itself in the British market. In fact the company is in talks to buy British telecommunications company Tiscali, as Rapid TV News reported on Monday.
