Orange cinema chnls agreed by CSA
French TV regulatory body the CSA has announced the five cinema and series channels Orange is to launch next Thursday have been registered and agreed on.
As Orange has not signed any agreement with professional organizations regarding investments into movie production, the CSA has set up minimum investment obligations for the acquisition of French and European films. Those investments will be raised and made equal to Canal+, as soon as Orange passes 3 million subscribers.
Over the first year, Orange will contribute to the French movie industry by pouring, at least, 20% of its obligations for the acquisition of French-speaking productions, into movies whose budget is equal or up to €5.35m.
The operator will have to enter negotiations with professional organizations before November 30 2009.
Proposed for €12, a fee in addition to the triple play subscription, the Orange TV offer includes channels Orange Cinémax, Orange Cinéhappy, Orange Cinéchoc, Orange Cinénovo and Orange Cinégéants.
