HSE24 plans sister service
German home-shopping channel HSE24 is planning a new sister service. At the end of February 2009 HSE24 Extra will launch, managing director Richard Reitzner told German financial newspaper Handelsblatt.
The channel, which will act more “quickly and aggressively” than the main service, will offer short retail sequences focusing on special offers. Additionally, new formats for the main channel will be trialed. The new service will replace existing spin-off channel HSE24 Digital which targets viewers in European markets outside Germany.
HSE24 has not yet felt any negative effects from the current global financial crisis. “Our turnover is rising at an almost two-digit rate,” said Reitzner. The subsidiary of retail and tourist concern Arcandor predicts a record turnover of more than €353 million for 2008 after its turnover rose 12% last year to €320 million. This year the company’s EBITDA is also expected to rise by a two-digit figure, although Reitzner did not give exact figures.
The company says that profit-rich products such as jewellery, cosmetics and wellbeing, from which it generates more than half of its turnover, are in most demand.
