Ono's workers on strike

After Spain's main cable operator Ono decided to fire 1,300 workers, the workforce has begun a strike protesting against the measure.

For now, the industrial action will last three days but there could be more strikes to come if the workforce fails to reach an agreement with the company's management. Employees are arguing the company has not justified the job losses, at the same time criticising the fact the enterprise is taking advantage of the present financial and economic crisis to proceed with the redundancies. According to workers union UGT, "this measure is abusive".
