Bluewin TV offers HDTV videos
Swiss telco Swisscom will in future offer videos in high definition as part of the IPTV platform Bluewin TV on its ADSL broadband networks.
From December 1 customers can select HD content from around 70 feature films, 40 music concerts and 30 documentaries from SFr2.50 (€1.60) each. The sound is in surround sound system Dolby Digital 5.1, with access granted for 24 hours. The HDTV video library complements the existing video-on-demand service which comprises over 500 movies, concerts and documentaries in standard definition. In addition to the dubbed versions, many titles are also available in the original language.
Bluewin TV has been carrying high definition television channels since early this year. On board are HD suisse, Anixe HD, ARTE HD and BBC HD. The IPTV platform, launched on November 1 2006, has so far won around 95,000 subscribers.
