Freeview HD PVR in New Zealand stores

Consumers in New Zealand can now buy their first high-definition PVR for the country's free-to-air digital TV platform, available in stores just in time for Christmas.

The first MyFreeview HD-approved PVR from Zinwell has two DTT tuners and capacity for up to 80 hours HD recording, or 249 hours of standard-def. All the usual PVR functionalities are available, including allowing users to autonatically book alternative recording times if two bookings are already set, and providing recommendations.

The set-top will be available in stores on December 11. There will be more HD PVR set-tops on the market next year, but for now, Zinwell has the market to itself.

Freeview also announced the addition of radio station Base FM to its line-up on both its terrestrial platform (Freeview HD) and satellite (Freeview). The station joins new time-shifted channel, TV3+1, already announced by the platform, which will start in March.
