Sky NZ, Vodafone in 'quad play' deal

News Corp-backed Sky Television New Zealand has signed a “quad play” deal with Vodafone allowing the telco to bundle Sky content in with its services.

The companies said that the new five-year deal is a “natural extension” to Sky’s current content agreement with Vodafone. Under the existing deal, Sky Mobile TV delivers a variety of entertainment and information channels, including an exclusive made-for-mobile news channel, plus live sport to Vodafone customers. Vodafone will now be able to sell this service direct to its subscribers.

John Fellet, Sky TV’s CEO, said: "Our strategy is to offer content to customers anytime, anywhere so that they can watch what they want, when they want to. The extension of the relationship with Vodafone to become our pay television telecommunications partner will greatly benefit consumers with the associated discounted pricing arrangements that bundling will deliver.”

Sky TV also announced the launch of MTV Networks’ Comedy Central, airing 24 hours a day from April 1 next year.
