Astra, Unitel extend HDTV collaboration
Good news for fans of classical music: Satellite operator SES Astra and German production and distribution company Unitel Classica will continue to screen classical music concerts in high-definition on Astra (19.2° East) until the end of the year.
The “Festival Summer of Classics”, which was originally scheduled to run until the end of September, was already extended into the autumn because of strong demand and positive feedback. The broadcasts take place on SES Astra’s free-to-air HDTV showcase channel on the frequency 11.914 GHz H (SR 27,500, FEC 9/10).
Each evening from 19.00 CET, seven hours of recordings of classical music concerts and operas are transmitted, for example from this year’s festivals in Bayreuth and Salzburg and the Valencia opera house as well as from Schönbrunn Castle in Vienna.
Unitel Classica is currently preparing the launch of an international pay-TV channel in HDTV for lovers of classical music and operas. The company already operates Classica, a music channel in standard-definition available in Germany and Austria on Premiere’s pay-TV platform as well as in Italy, Spain and Japan.
