GlobeCast partners with Rai Way for DTT

Rai Way, the entity that owns Italian public broadcaster Raiís transmission and broadcasting network, has chosen GlobeCast to evolve towards DTT.

According to the three-year agreement, GlobeCast will provide fiber connectivity, teleport facilities and satellite capacity to deliver Rai signals to DTT trasmitters throughout the country.

The switchover process in Italy has already started, with Sardinia fully digital and the Aosta Valley scheduled to follow by the end of the year. Next year, Lazio (Rome), Campania, Trentino-Alto Adige and Piedmont will make the change, with the whole of Italy switched to digital format in 2012.
