UPC expands Fiber Power Internet roll-out
UPC said its high-speed Fiber Power Internet service is now available in 1.1 million households in the Netherlands. The broadband connection offers speeds of 60 and 120 Mbps and has been available in Amsterdam and Almere for the past three months.
The high-speed broadband access is based on Eurodocsis 3.0 technology. It is now available in Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Dordrecht, the remainder of the network will follow next year.
UPC expects its Fiber Power Internet network to help develop new services, such as high-quality video and streaming media, as well as assisted distance learning, work, security and care.
Across Europe, cable operators are now rolling out Eurodocsis 3.0 based broadband access services. UPC calls it Fiber Power for a reason: the service is in direct competition with the FttH networks that are now being built in a number of European countries.
