Chechen TV on satellite

The Chechen state broadcasting company Groznyy [GTRK Groznyy TV] has started broadcasting via satellite in test mode, the press service of the president and the government of Chechnya stated on Dec 12.

BBC Monitoring reports a source saying that the channel would officially start round-the-clock broadcasts [via satellite] in late December.

"It is planned that the Chechen TV channel will start round-the-clock broadcasts via satellite after 20 December [2008]. The signal will be received in Russia and throughout Europe in general. It is already known that it will be possible to receive satellite broadcasts of GTRK Groznyy TV in Britain, North Africa and the Middle East," the source said.
