Kabel BW increases triple play customers
Kabel BW, Germany’s third largest cable operator, has reported strong growth in 2008 with its triple play offers. The number of customers for its telephone and internet services has risen by 59% from 240,000 in 2007 to 382,000.
With 142,000 new triple play customers, the past year topped 2007’s growth of 124,000 new additions. 17% of Kabel BW’s 2.3 million customers meanwhile use the telephone and internet services – the highest percentage amongst all German cable operators.
“We have developed excellently in 2008 and, through our high investments, can now offer broadband internet to 3.5 million households,” said Klaus Thiemann, chairman of the management board. “Not only in large cities, but also in rural areas our customers benefit from the full bandwidth of 32 Mbit/s.”
This year the company, which serves regional state Baden-Württemberg, wants to trial internet access with 50 Mbit/s in a pilot region. The TV offer will be expanded by value-added services such as time-shifted television.
