TIMM expands airtime

TIMM, the commercial television channel for Germany’s gay community, will offer a 24 hour service from February 1 and add new series, shows and specials to its schedule. The Berlin-based channel has been broadcasting from 4pm CET since its launch on November 1 2008.

According to managing director Frank Lukas, positive feedback from its viewers and the strong access figures from its website www.timm.de and internet TV platform Zattoo have led to the decision to expand the airtime earlier than planned.

New in February are a documentary about the life of gay people over 50 years, the show Valentine Boy with viewers’ love declarations, new episodes of dating show Homecheck and fashion series Ruby as well as the fifth and final series of US cult drama Queer as Folk.

As German TV premieres, TIMM will show UK series Mile High and Metrosexuality as well as the second series of US comedy-drama Noah’s Arc. The channel will also report twice per day from Berlin-based film festival Berlinale.

TIMM, which finances through advertising and sponsoring, is available as a free-to-air service via cable, satellite, ADSL and web-TV.
