RTL joins DTT in Stuttgart
RTL Germany’s channels will most likely be the first private broadcasters to join the digital terrestrial multiplex in the region of Stuttgart, according to the German news site Digital Fernsehen.
The two main commercial broadcasters in the country, RTL and ProSiebenSat.1, have been cautious about joining the digital terrestrial services in large parts of the country. But RTL had a change of mind when it announced late last year it is reconsidering DTT.
At the moment, digital terrestrial only plays a minor role in the state of Baden-Württemberg, with 4.9% depending on DTT. This is down from 6.1% in 2007, when the service was launched, with only public broadcasters available.
