Digital TV takes off in Belarus

Digital TV could be received by just under half (46.77%) of people in Belarus as of the beginning of this year, according to official statistics published by Cableman.

A DTT service was launched in the capital, Minsk, in July 2005 and currently offers five TV channels and one radio station.

DTT services are now also available in several other towns and cities including Grodo and Mogilev.

In the cable sector, the MMDS operation Kosmos TV is due to launch a commercial digital TV operation next month.
