This April Dutch consumer electronics manufacturer Philips will add its proprietary Net TV technology to its top models flat screen LCD sets. This will allow viewers to directly access web based video content on their TV screen via a special Philips portal.
In selected markets, including The UK, Germany and The Netherlands, the company will employ the service on its 9600 and 9700 series on all models with screen sizes from 32″ onwards. The service will connect to the web using an ethernet cable or wirelessly.
Via the Philips portal viewers can access services such as YouTube and web based catch-up TV services from broadcasters. The initial line-up includes ou Tube, Tom Tom, eBay, MetreoGroup, Funspot, MyAlbum and Netlog.
