Deutsche Telekom sees IPTV subs grow across Europe
Deutsche Telekom has seen its Central European subsidiaries in Croatia, Slovakia, Hungary, Macedonia and Montenegro add a combined total of over 220,000 IPTV subscribers in 2008, while its domestic operations had registered 480,000 customers for its German IPTV service 'T-Home Entertain' by the end of last year.
In Hungary, Deutsche Telekom's local division Magyar Telecom saw its IPTV subscriber base grow by over 208% year-on-year in 2008 to reach 28,496 customers by the end of 2008. In Montenegro, its local subsidiary T-Com Montenegro saw its fledgling IPTV service 'Extra TV' grow from 2,397 subscribers at the end of 2007 to 17,531 by the end of 2008.
In Croatia, the German telco's local subsidiary T-Hrvatski Telekom passed the 100,000 subscribers milestone for its IPTV service 'MaxTV' in October of last year. In Slovakia, Deutsche Telekom's local division Slovak Telecom increased its IPTV subscriber base from 43,734 at the end of 2007 to 135,573 at the end of 2008.
