Must-carry for Swiss sports channel

The privately owned Swiss sports channel Schweizer Sportfernsehen (SSF) has been awarded must-carry status on the country’s largest cablenet, Cablecom. The channel will be distributed in basic analogue for a period of at least three years.

The holding company United Sport Production USP TV AG was founded in 2007 by a group of private investors. The channel specialises in mass sprts including Formula 1 Racing, football, ice hockey and tennis, but will also cover niche sports.

Media regulator Bakom issued the licence and carriage of the sports channel will commence on July 1st. At the same time SSF continued its technical agreement with the public broadcaster Schweizerischen Radio- und Fernsehgesellschaft (SRG) for distribution and play-out facilities.
