Astra increases German reach

SES Astra has maintained its position as the leading infrastructure for digital TV in Germany, reaching 11.1 million homes at the end of 2008.

This represented a 1.35 million (13.9%) increase on the number of homes reached a year earlier.

Other figures, contained in the company’s Satellite Monitor, indicate that 20 million viewers in Germany received digital programmes (via all modes) and 69.4% of the country’s 16.2 million households were digital, as were 31.3% of its 18.45 million cable households.

DTT and IPTV accounted for 7% and 1% of viewers respectively.
