ReDeSign gains industry support
The European Commission-funded ReDeSign project has established formal relations with CENELEC, the DVB and the SCTE.
In a statement the organisation said that by teaming up with the main standards organisations it was able to confirm its position as an important focal point for the further development of cable network technology.
ReDeSign is currently focusing on projects to extend the life expectancy of Hybid Fibre Coax (HFC) networks as well as on Migration scenarios towards Next Generation HFC architectures.
In a recent survey of European cable operators ReDeSign found the number of broadcast channels in the digital format could be expected to increase to up to 250 in the next six to ten years. Although this might have resulted in networks reaching their limits within the next three years, ReDeSign believes the technology to prevent this from happening is already available.
