Sky Sports going after Welsh Rugby

Sky Sports and the management of the Welsh Rugby Union are in discussions for the TV rights for all of the rugby club matches in Wales, as they negotiate a deal to televise the matches played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

If Sky Sports get this deal, this will be yet another blow to the terrestrial channels, as part of the Rugby fixture list moves across to pay TV, forcing fans to pay to watch their local teams play.

Part of the deal would allow the clubs around Wales to get satellite TV at a reduced price, but the exact details of this are not yet known.
There are over two hundred rugby teams in Wales, but when it comes to satellite TV subscribers, BSkyBís own figures say that just one in every three households has the service.
