New STV identity unveiled

STV has announced that it will introduce a new identity on-screen and online on Monday.
Evening news programmes Scotland Today and North Tonight will be revamped with new sets and graphics, and will be renamed to STV News at Six.

"We wanted to introduce a new look for the station that would not only reflect Scotland's strong heritage but also its vibrant, contemporary culture," said David Brook, STV's interim director of programmes and marketing. "Our new look ties in perfectly with our strategy to opt out of the network schedule more often, and bring viewers more Scottish-produced programmes as well as series of wider appeal."

STV plans to air more locally-produced shows, including a countdown of great Scots, instead of ITV1 network programming. It has already decided to replace the new series of Lewis on Sunday nights with Scotland at the Movies and Highlands Special.
