Portugal Telecom launches new Meo promotion, VOD downloads break record
Portugal Telecom has launched a new promotion for its pay-TV service 'Meo' (delivered via IPTV, satellite and mobile), as it simultaneously reports that subscriber downloads from the service's video-on-demand library 'Meo Videoclube' recently broke a new record.
The company reports that in only four days, over 5,000 subscribers rented the newly-released films 'Mamma Mia' and 'Batman - The Dark Knight' from Meo Videoclube. The VOD library also recently added the films 'The Mummy - Tomb of the Dragon Emporer', 'Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', 'Kung Fu Panda' and 'The Incredible Hulk'. New films to be released shortly include 'Get Smart' and 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army'.
The new promotion being launched by Portugal Telecom offers potential new customers the option to subscribe to Meo for EUR 30.90 per month, and until March 31st they can also rent films on-demand with discounts of up to 50%. To watch the accompanying advert please click here.
Portugal Telecom reached 312,000 subscribers for Meo by the end of 2008, adding 110,000 customers in the last quarter of the year alone.
