Hispasat testing 3D TV
by David Allen
The long awaited 3D TV is being tested by the Spanish satellite broadcaster Hispasat, which must have noticed the amount of work been done by the likes of Sky and other broadcaster on the development of 3D TV.
In order for Hispasat to catch up with these developments, it is launching a test technology through a project known as “3D Live”.
The project allows companies to study the way that 3D TV is broadcast though the satellite network, and the problems associated with the transmission and compression of 3D images by different formats, such as IPTV and satellite.
The Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce is co-financing the 3D TV project, which shows how seriously it is taking this new technology.
