I don't know how I could help you here, I mean your hardly alone here.
But, if it helps you, think of it this way.

    1) What Features do you need want
(i.e. CI-CAM Slot(s), HDD Recording, Linux based OS, evtul. SoftCam, Smartcard Reader for your legal Subscription Viewing Card(s) In the case of the really ~nice~ Boxes Swappable Tuners / Ability to use Multiple Tuners C/T/S/S2).

    2) How much are you prepard to part with, noting that the above "menu" will add additional costs to some "base" system.

But if I had to choose between those "Two Boxes", I'd take the AB IP Box, simply 'cause of the Linux OS, and the ~ability~ to use "custom" built images (Think dBox2, perhaps One of the best known Linux Receivers in history), has a few of those Boxes already ticked, and w/such "custom" Firmware you could possibly add more such as recording to an external HDD. (If you couldn't already do that)...

    Hello,

If you are looking for a good HD receiver, please have a look at Azbox Elite HD or Azbox Premium HD.

The Azbox is a satellite receiver and a Multimedia player at the same time (Netword Media Tank).

    Azbox HD has:
    - 2 tuners slot (you can choose between DVB-S2, DVB-C2, DVB-T tuners)
    - 2 USB ports
    - Premium support an internal HDD (Sata)
    - 1 network interface
    - 1 HDMI (1080p)
    - 1 card reader
    - 2 PCMCIA slots
    - Premium is provided with a Universal Remote control to manage both the sat and the TV.
    - Premium has built-in Ethernet and WiFi card
    - Elite and Premium share the same firmware so both have the same functionallities
    - PVR both on internal HHD or external HDD or USB stick
    - Timeshift
    - the can play most the multmedia files AVI, MKV + subtitles (up to 1080p).
    - display photo
    - plays MP3
    - RSS Reader
    - Webbrowser
    - it can display feed in 4:2:2

Everything you can do with a HTPC you can do it with Azbox.

Please seriously consider Azbox HD in your comparison. I own both Elite and Premium and I am really happy with them!
