Canal+ reports 10 million VOD streams

French premium broadcaster Canal+ has reported that 10 million VOD streams have been requested from its Canal+ A La Demande service since its inception in March 2008.

The broadcaster said that 60% of the programmes viewed this way were seen on a television set, the remainder on a PC. Movies are the most requested at 32.6% of all streams, followed by TV series (23.3%) and entertainment (19.8%). Canal said that 80% of its programmes are available on the service.

At the moment, viewers can access the service via satellite and IPTV from Free; during 2009 Orange, SFR and Numericable are added.
Research amongst viewers show that people are very satisfied with the VOD service, 87% of all respondents say they would miss the service if it were to cease. 91% of all people say they will continue to use the service.
