The Telenor-owned operator is hoping to build on Swedish firsts in delivery of HD content over satellite and cable.

“Our focus is HDTV and it feels particularly good to now be able to offer HDTV via IPTV, which has become an increasingly popular form of distribution,” said Mats Almgren, CEO of Canal Digital in Sweden.

Agreements with 50 metropolitan networks will be able to deliver HDTV content to over 200,000 households. Iniitally HD content will be restricted to premium channels Canal+ Film HD and Canal+ Sport HD, and the public broadcaster SVT HD.
