Conditions not right for Digital+ sale
French media group Vivendi doesn't want to buy Sogecable's satellite pay TV operator Digital+ because conditions are no longer right for the acquisition.
Several months ago the company created a joint-venture with Spain's main telco Telefónica in order to launch a buyout offer towards Digital+. But now Digital+ is going through its hardest times regarding its subscriber base. The operator declared two million clients on March 31, the lowest figure since June 2006. So the operator has suffered the loss of 34,000 subscribers adding to the 43,000 loss registered in the second half of last year.
The only point positive for the operator is the revenue per subscriber which are steady at €44.3 per month nearly at the €44.5 of Q4 last year.
