One Vision secures Irish DTT

By Julian Clover

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland has awarded the three national DTT multiplexes to the One Vision consortium.

It follows last months withdrawal from the process of the Boxer-Communicorp consortium. One Vision, whose membership comprises One Vision includes TV3, Setanta and Eircom, originally came second in the process.

The Commission had sought confirmation from the group that they were interested in pursuing contract negotiations, following the decision of Boxer DTT Limited to withdraw its application citing difficulties in negotiating with RTÉ Networks Limited, the transmission company and operator of the public multiplex.

The BCI will no doubt have sought assurances as to the participation of Setanta, following the pay-TV broadcasters well publicised difficulties.
