RTL Gemist grows viewership
By Robert Briel
The Dutch online catch-up TV service RTL Gemist is growing its viewership and at times becoming more popular than Uitzending Gemist from the public broadcasters.
Every day, over 100,000 people demand a stream of the popular Dutch daily soap Goed Tijden Slechte Tijden; other popular programmes include RTL Nieuws. The final of The X Factor drew 164,322 requests.
Last December, RTL revamped its online catch-up TV service and now features the Microsoft Silverlight technology. Talks are under way with cable and IPTV operators to also carry the service.
However, at the moment there is only a small trial on the small Lijbrandt Telecom network.
