After a growth in Q4 last year, Portugal's satellite pay-TV market registered a slight downturn in Q1 this year, according to ANACOM the country's authority for the communications sector.

The number of subscribers to satellite television was 584,000 at the end of March, 0.4% less than in the previous quarter this year but 17% more than in the same period last year.

According to ANACOM this negative evolution is due to the downturn in the number of subscribers of ZON TV Cabo, especially in the regions of Alentejo, Albarve and Ašores.
