Dutch digital cable advances

The total number of Dutch digital cable households has surpassed two million. With a 50.2% market share cable is the number one provider of digital TV in the country.

There are now 4.155,00 digital TV homes, according to research by Telecompaper. The country’s total nu,mber of TV households is 7,950,000.
With a 72.4% market share cable is also leading the total TV distribution market. Satellite is the runner-up with 25% of the digital TV market and 13% of the total TV market. The sole DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliiet has 840,000 subscribers.

KPN’s DTT platform Digitenne counts 790,000 homes. The incumbent also has 45,000 IPTV customers.KPN’s share of the digiotal `tV market is 19.3% and 10.5% of the total TV market. Tele 2 counts 195,000 IPTV customers.
With 1,118,000 digital homes Ziggo is the largest digital TV platform; the operator added 58,000 digital homes in the first quarter. UPC counted 670,500 at the end of Q1 with a growth of 21, 500 during the first quarter,
