Tony Ball joining Brit. Telecom

British Telecom stated June 17 that former BSkyB CEO Tony Ball is joining BT as a non-exec director. There's little word on where this leaves his potential as the head of ITV.

Mr Ball is currently chairman of German cable TV business Kabel Deutschland, and was rumoured to be in talks at ITV to take the top job following Michael Grade's decision to move to a part-time role. Mr Ball takes up his new role from July 16.

"The convergence of the computer and the television, entertainment and communications has only just begun and it is clear BT will have an important part to play in shaping the future. I am looking forward to being part of that journey," commented Ball.
