ESPN and Sky are understood to have tabled bids for television rights to SPL matches currently held by Setanta Sports.

According to press reports, ESPN has offered 90% of the 125m paid by Setanta for the television rights to SPL matches for four years starting in 2010. Sky is reported to have offered between 60% and 70% of the amount.

Lex Gold, executive chairman of the Scottish Premier League, said the SPL was "still in discussions with Setanta" which he expected to "conclude early next week".
