Polish DTT mux decision delay

By Chris Dziadul

Poland has yet to decide on who will be operating its first DTT multiplex, due to make its debut this September.

Rzeczpospolita reports that negotiations with EmiTel, the national transmission company wholly owned by the incumbent telco TPSA, were due to be concluded today but may drag on for another two to three weeks.

The main stumbling block appears to be the public broadcaster TVP, which does not have any mechanisms in place for making such a decision, which also involves the commercial sector.

The timetable for the launch of the first multiplex, which is set to carry TVP 1, TVP 2, TVP 3, TVN, Polsat, TV4 and TV Puls, is nevertheless unlikely to be allowed to slip.
