The Premier League has awarded live broadcast rights previously held by Setanta for the Republic of Ireland to ESPN.
ESPN has been awarded two packages of rights containing a total of 46 matches in the 2009-10 season - the same matches that it will show on its new UK channel, which launches on August 3.
"The Premier League is extremely pleased that ESPN has invested in our broadcast rights for The Republic of Ireland," said Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore.
"They have a formidable worldwide reputation and we have great confidence in their ability to provide football fans with first rate coverage and programming."
