SBS Broadcasting will today (July 9) launch its new on-demand video portal, offering a choice of movies and TV series which can be bought or rented.

For the time being, Veamer will only be offered on the web. However, its intention is to launch the service on mobile and on television sets using cable or IPTV platforms. The new video portal will offer programmes from the three Dutch SBS channels SBS6, Net 5 and Veronica.

The site offers a selection of movies including a number from Warner Home Entertainment and the Dutch production Wit Licht. Recent international titles include Yes Man.

A number of TV series are available including Being Erica and McLeod’s Daughters; Dutch series include Verborgen Gebreken and De Hoofdprijs. Past and current episodes can be viewed, and with some series a new episode immediately after being broadcast.

Earlier, SBS Broadcasting said it would bring the on-demand platform under the Maxdome brand, which is already successfully deployed on the German market by its owners, the ProSiebenSat.1 Group.
