Half a million internet customers at Unitymedia

Unitymedia, Germany’s second largest cable operator, now has more than 500,000 households in the federal states of North Rhine Westfalia and Hessen for its internet via cable service – an increase of more than 75 per cent in comparison with last year’s figures.

In contrast to ADSL providers, which offer a maximum data rate of 16 Mbit/s, Unitymedia’s customers can enjoy a speed of up to 32 Mbit/s. The high-speed access can be utilised by more than 88% of all Unitymedia households, irrespective of whether they live in rural or urban regions, with more than 90% expected to have access by year-end.

“Half a million broadband customers is clear confirmation of our tenacious triple-play strategy,” said Unitymedia CEO Parm Sandhu in Cologne. “Our goal is to offer users in North Rhine Westfalia and Hessen internet, telephony and TV in excellent quality at an outstanding price.”
