GTS-Datanet enters Hungarian IPTV market
Hungarian telco GTS-Datanet has launched a new IPTV service called 'Datanet Home TV', becoming the third telco in the country to launch such a service, after Magyar Telecom and Invitel, according to reports in local news website Origo.
The new service offers two basic packages - one offering 14 linear channels and costing HUF 2,290 (US$ 11.85) per month, and another offering 47 linear channels and costing HUF 3,610 per month. The telco currently serves around 40,000 customers with telephony and broadband services, and according to Paul Pauer, Managing DIrector of GTS-Datanet, the company hopes to sign up around 10% of its customer base to the new IPTV service by the end of this year.
It will be up against some fairly stiff competition however - Magyar Telecom had reached 37,500 subscribers for its IPTV service 'T-Home TV' by the end of last March, while Invitel had reached over 3,500 customers by November 2008 for its service 'InviTV'.
