Internet prospects lift Hungarian gloom

Hungary’s internet market is likely to grow by an average of 12% a year over the next five years.

However, according to the findings of a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) published inn BBJ, its entertainment and media industry market may contract by as much as HUF38.33 billion (€141.9 million), or 4.4%, this year, before starting to recover from 2011 onwards.

The latest published figures by the National Communication Council (NHH) show that Hungary had 1.6 million fixed line broadband internet subscribers as of the end of May, with cable accounting for around 769,000 of the total.
