Head of BBC HD Danielle Nagler has revealed the new arrivals coming to the channel this summer, including Friday night films and season one of Heroes.
Writing on the BBC Internet Blog, Nagler said that the station will start running a double bill catchup of the first series of Heroes every weekend starting this Saturday.
This is ahead of the fourth season of the US show which will be broadcast on BBC Two and BBC HD in October.
Nagler also confirmed that the channel will run Music Festival season every Thursday night at 10.30pm, including coverage from events around the UK, while a new film will be shown every Friday night at 10.30pm up to the autumn.
Finally, the twelfth IAAF World Athletics Championship will be broadcast on BBC HD, with coverage from the Berlin Olympic Stadium running from August 15 to 23.
Meanwhile, Nagler responded to a series of posts on Digital Spy's Broadcasting forum about viewer disappointment at not being able to watch this year's British Open Golf in HD.
While sympathising with this frustration, she explained: "I keep asking the question and getting the same answer from the various parties involved, so it is safe to confirm to you that [The Open] will be in HD starting from next year."
