RAI dumps Sky Italia
As anticipated, Italian public broadcaster RAI is dropping its popular RAISAT bouquet of 5 channels from pay-TV operator Sky Italia. The channels will go dark this weekend, on August 1.
RAI says it has been unable to agree transmission terms with Sky. RAIís satellite channels will still be available on the recently-launched TivuSat free-to-view bouquet, and on digital terrestrial. Sky says it offered a 7-year deal worth Ä425m to the public broadcaster.
RAIís core channels (RAI1, RAI2) stay on satellite as they are covered by a separate deal.
