Das Vierte to relaunch next month

German entertainment channel Das Vierte has set September 19 as the date for its planned relaunch.

The content offer will be expanded, but a full-scale general interest service is no longer planned, a spokesman explained in Munich. News broadcasts will, for example, not form part of the schedule due to the economic developments within the media market. For the relaunch in September there will be new shows, a new corporate design and a revised website.

Russian media entrepreneur Dmitry Lesnewsky, who acquired Das Vierte a year ago from US media concern NBC Universal, originally announced that the channel would develop into a general interest service with news, in-house productions, entertainment shows and German premieres of TV series. Currently, the schedule mainly comprises US series and movies.
