The DTH platform UPC Direct is likely to add HD channels to its offer in the second half of 2010.

According to Parabola, they will only be distributed from the 0.8 and 1 degrees West positions, currently used by Thor and Intelsat.

UPC Direct is present in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, while the sister service Focus Sat operates in Romania.

Apparently there are no plans at present to start offering HD channels on Focus Sat.
UPC’s Romanian cable network will, however, start carrying HD services from later this year.
