Markus Tellenbach has taken over the CEOís position at TVN in Poland. He replaces Piotr Walter who stays on as deputy-CEO. Tellenbach, well-known in European media from his jobs at SBS Broadcasting and Premiere, was already a member of TVNís supervisory board. However, there is some speculation that the appointment could lead to closer co-operation with Rupert Murdochís News Corp.

TVN has struggled this past year and Swiss-born Tellenbach is taking the helm immediately. ďThis expanded management structure serves to further strengthen and integrate TVN Group's businesses by allowing the experienced leadership team to focus on driving the performance of their respective businesses," TVN said in a statement.

TVNís CFO, Karen Burgess, is also leaving, while its head of programming was leaving the management board but would stay with the company. Piotr Walter is the son of the stationís founder Mariusz Walter. Walter has been CEO since 2001.

"TVN is focusing on its pay-TV platform 'n'," said Dominik Niszcz, analyst at Raiffeisen. "The new CEO works in that branch in Germany and this is a positive change... SKY Deutschland is partly in the hands of News Corp, so this might be an indication of some cooperation."

TVN was launched in 1997 and is controlled by the ITI Group, a major Polish media company (with 62). It broadcasts over DTH satellite and cable.
