Confidence slowly returning to broadcast sector

Chris Forrester

This time last year the broadcasting industry suffered a near-overnight collapse as far as the supply side of the industry is concerned. The major industry vendors all discovered that their Q4 equipment orders – in many cases – just evaporated. Projects were suspended, cancelled or re-budgeted by their clients. Now, however, there are signs that the corner has been turned.

A survey by business advisors Stoy Hayward says almost 30% of technology, telecoms and media companies surveyed said they were slightly or “more confident” than a year ago.

But the data are far from clear. A further 38% said they were as confident as they were 3 months ago, but a worrying 32% were either slightly or “much less” confident than they were 3 months ago.
